Fitness Frenzy is a time management mental workout

Ginger wrote this on July 17th, 2008

Fitness Frenzy isn’t just another “Diner Dash” type game, I think it’s more of a mental work out than that. Along with keeping your clients happy by supplying the “perfect work out” routing for them, you must maintain the equipment (cleaning off the sweat from used machines), and provide lessons on how to use the machines… all while providing motivation and encouragement. Planning the perfect workout routine is no joke either, you have to be able to remember which machines are best for certain health goals. What machines are best if you just want to slim down? Which are best for building your arms up? What about those pros that just want to bulk up a little for the upcoming competition?

I’ve been looking for a new game to keep me occupied, since I’m hosting a big birthday sleepover this weekend, and this is on my list of games to buy. I know that the birthday girls (my twin daughters turned 13 years old today!) are really into working out and healthy habits, so this might even be one that they’ll enjoy playing. They’ll probably be better at it than I am, at least that’s how reality is playing out with the “healthy habits” thing. LOL

After playing the one hour free trial download (which is full version), the only thing that really irritated me about the game was the fact that you can’t cancel moves that you’ve planned ahead for. There is absolutely no room for wrong clicks in this game, but I guess they kind of make up for that by allowing you to replay the levels until you’re satisfied with your result. I will soon find out if achieving a “perfect” on every level unlocks anything down the road, like in other games of this sort. A “Perfect” round is signified on the map with a little trophy for that level… otherwise you receive a bronze, silver, or gold star instead.

Check out the preview video below!

New games arrive while I play Puzzle Hero

Ginger wrote this on July 12th, 2008

Between life’s sometimes hectic happenings, and pursuits beyond the computer… there have been a couple of new games released (see below) that I haven’t had the opportunity to try yet. I’ve been busy riding the motorcycle, going to see Hellboy2 (loved it!), and hangin’ out with my girls when I’m not busy working or playing Puzzle Hero. I’ve discovered that Puzzle Hero is a lot easier if you “level up” your character in the arcade before continuing in the Quest mode.

“Leveling up” means that you fight in the arena to gain experience points and gold. Experience points will add levels to your character, which increases the amount of damage you do per hit. The gold will allow you to upgrade your weapons and armor, to better prepare you for the more difficult fights coming along the way in the quest mode.

I’ve come to consider Puzzle Hero as an easier, more user friendly version of Puzzle Quest… more suited for kids, if they’re interested in playing such a game. When I finish this second time through Puzzle Hero, I’m going to go back to Puzzle Quest to see if I can finish it this time… last time I had a character all built up in that one, I had to reformat and lost it all. I’ve got an external drive now though, so there will be no more losing my characters lol!

The games below have been released while I’ve been lost in questing:

Jade is an animal rights activist petitioning the cosmetics industry. After being challenged by Madame Dubois, a beauty industry empress, Jade dreams of starting her own earth friendly spa. To do this, she must first learn the ropes and deliver 5-star service in San Francisco. Use your Time Management skills to please guests with massages, facials, mud masks, and more. Use profits for things like ginseng tea and other upgrades. Can you manage the Spa Mania and indulge needy patrons? Find out by downloading Spa Mania now!

Take a jaunt through jungles, lush forests, and sandy white beaches. Grab your digital camera - it`s time to photograph beautiful butterflies in their real-time 3D habitats. Play a delightful game of solitaire Mahjong while collecting over 400 butterflies on Tropico Island. With over 100 levels, you`ll be snapping photos, matching tiles, and discovering new species in Tropico Jong: Butterfly Expedition.

Taking a sanity break with new game

Ginger wrote this on July 1st, 2008

I’ve spent most of today updating WordPress here to version 2.5.1, which of course means that I needed a new theme too. It took forever to find one that would work for what I wanted to do here, but I’m happy to report that the Amazing Grace theme did the trick! Now it’s just a matter of customizing the graphics… easier said than done lol. Eventually, the pictures on the top will rotate, and feature all of my digital art pieces! I thought that would be pretty cool.

I still have a lot of work to do here, but at least the site’s working now. I’m really looking forward to the upcoming long weekend. I’m hoping to bring the girls to go see Hellboy II… the special effects and creature creations look fabulous! With the Holiday weekend, I don’t know if we’ll be able to go to the Drive Ins, but that’s what we’re hoping for. I also want to see the new Will Smith movie, Hancock. That would be a great double feature line up! Hellboy II and Hancock… here’s to hoping!

I’m not feeling overly creative, so playing in Poser or UltraFractal is out… maybe I’ll wind down with some Ranch Rush, or Virtual Farm instead. Playing a casual pc game after a long day of code tweaking is how I relax. Oooo… Diablo III was announced… it’s coming, it’s really coming! I can’t wait!

iTunes, Americade and Vampires

Ginger wrote this on June 3rd, 2008

I was going to include the term “sinister sun”, or “the sun is evil” in the title to this post, but figured “Vampires” would cover a few other topics I wanted to update on here too. Ahh… where shall I begin?

Riding season finally began here in upstate NY (along with summer, or what disguises itself as summer these days). We’ve been enjoying riding so far this year, and have been lucky enough to find the time to add some serious mileage to the Glide. One of the things we enjoy most about riding season is that we get to see friends and family that we don’t often (or ever) get to see during the long winters here. With the gas prices going insane, there are more and more new riders every year, so we’ve enjoyed meeting a lot of new people and making new friends, too.

Still learning new stuff

Ginger wrote this on April 2nd, 2008

Let’s see… in the past couple of weeks I’ve gotten three new graphics programs, two sets of video tutorials for learning how to use them… and very little sleep as a result LOL. I’m really glad I finally went and got some of the stuff I’ve needed for a while. I consider it all “reinvesting” in my business… (and it’s all tax deductible, who am I kidding here lol). Along with the tablet (I’ve so needed that), I’m really able to use all the traditional art skills I learned so many years ago. It may be digital, but it feels good to be painting again. The First picture below is the result of my learning to paint the hair on the figures I render in Poser and DazStudio. Click here to get an idea of how they start out, before painting (it’s a shot of the same figure before painting, just as she came out of Daz).

Late again by *webwenchginger on deviantART

WordPress came out with a new version, so I’ll be updating the ‘ol journal today. If things get a little weird here, that’s why. The twins are in a play, so I’ll be busy watching their performances for the next couple of nights. Rehearsals are over… Yay! LOL My Mom and Gramma Julie are going to be there tomorrow night, so there’ll be four generations together again. How cool is that?

I’m a Deviant Artist

Ginger wrote this on March 24th, 2008

Well, I’ve been so busy learning how to use my 3D graphics software, and having fun on Deviant Art, that I’ve neglected the ol’ blog! Bad WebWench! LOL I’m so excited about having started an online gallery of my journey through learning how to manipulate 3D figures, and then painting them! Deviant Art is a site I’ve always visited for inspiration from other talented artists, and had forgotten about totally. I’ll include some thumbnails below that will lead to my gallery on DeviantArt. Remember, I’ve only been using the 3D program for less than a week, so it’s all looking a tad “beginner” stylie. LOL It’s been a year or so since I even opened the 3D programs, so it’s like learning it all over again. I hope to pick it up fast so I can build up my own Print Store!

Whimsical Enchantress by *webwenchginger on deviantART

Through my lil network of friends there, and the artists I like to watch for new “Deviations”, I found another artist who blogs using WordPress… Vex blogs about Poser (the 3D software she uses most) and Das|Studio (the software I use). Being that I’m still learning how to use the program, I was thrilled to have found her blog! She also offers characters, materials and other content for 3D artists to use in their creations, through Vamp3D. View her amazing artwork on DeviantArt. I can’t tell you how nice it was to find another artist that skins forums too!

The future has been redesigned

Ginger wrote this on March 16th, 2008

As a child, did you dream about what the future would bring? I used to think about tourist trips to Mars, or speaking into a wall unit to order a full course meal that would automatically just appear. (I hate cooking!) Well it looks like our dreams of virtual reality video games may not be that “futuristic” after all!

Monetizing a sex scandal

Ginger wrote this on March 16th, 2008

I don’t think there are many people that have been able to avoid the sex scandal involving Spitzer and his prostitute “Kristen” aka Ashley. As a resident of the state of New York, living in the capital region, this whole thing has been a little more dramatic for us… see, employees of the state of New York surround us, and they’re all in a tizzy!

State employees feel the need to be loyal to the Governor because he does after all sign their pay checks… and they often change their political party affiliation depending on who’s currently holding the office. Theory goes, if the Gov. is a Democrat, you register as a Democrat so that when it comes time for cuts… you’re lower down on the list. That’s the theory anyway. I love it when there’s a new Governor elected, of a different political party than his predecessor… I enjoy confronting the state employees about their sudden change in party affiliations.
