The newest free trial download is “Jewelleria“, a time management game that challenges you to make the finest jewelery as fast as you can, while keeping your customers happy. If you’ve ever played the Cake Mania series, you’ll be very familiar with the game mechanics in this jewelery shop challenge.

As a fan of the Cake Mania games, I was able to easily apply the same methods of catering to the customers in order to achieve the “Master Goal” in each of the 13 levels I was able to play in the one hour trial period. Choosing your upgrades wisely between each level makes it easier to deal with demanding customers, and so do the candy treats that are available do help calm down impatient patrons by refilling their “happiness meters”, which are shown as hearts beside their heads. Very familiar game set up… not that familiar is a bad thing.

Unique to Jewelleria, the customers will eventually order a “mystery” item. Instead of a specific jewel in the piece they order, the picture is blank. I learned that this means you can make them any combination of jewels, as long as it’s in the correct “piece” of jewelery (ring, earing, or necklace)… and that customer will buy it. This gives you the opportunity to make an expensive piece with more than one type of jewel in it to earn a bit of extra cash.

Another one of the more unique aspects of this game are the “Awards” handed out for certain achievements such as completing 8 rounds without having to discard any jewelery. There are around 8 awards to receive, one of which is for earning $40k.

I enjoyed playing this game, and found the graphics very clean and clear. As a gem lover myself, I really enjoyed making the jewelry, and seeing the various results. I didn’t find this game difficult due to my familiarity with other games of it’s type, but still found it fun to play. This one is being added to my list of games to buy with my next Game Club credit!
