Mystery of Unicorn Castle is the newest hidden object game
Mystery of Unicorn Castle is the newest hidden object game available for download here. In this game, you play as “Jane”, who’s been having strange dreams about a beautiful castle, and her white unicorn. None of this made sense to her until she received a mysterious letter.
The adventure begins when Jane finds out that a distant relative has died, and she must go to England for the reading of the will. Turns out, the deceased relative was a little protective of his noble family’s castle. He’s gathered all remaining descendants of the family lineage, and has left instructions for them to find the “heart of the castle”. As the mystery unfolds, you explore the castle, looking for the heart.
This hidden object game includes puzzles that you must solve in order to proceed through the levels. Some are match three, and others are fitting puzzle pieces together. In the hour’s worth of play that I put into this game, I didn’t find any of the riddles or puzzles too difficult.
The search mechanics change every level, sometimes you must find the items listed, sometimes you have to match the outline given to you to the object in the room. Other times, you have to find the differences between two otherwise identical rooms. While I’ve seen all these methods used in hidden object games before, I can’t remember seeing ALL of them in one game before lol.
One thing I did like about this game is that it allows you to “recharge” your hints… if you use up your hint for a level, you get to earn them back by catching the fairies that suddenly appear. Clicking them as they fly around the room will earn you a portion of your hint meter back. Click about five of them and you’ve got your hint back to use again! This comes in handy for those frustrating items that you just can’t find.
My first impression is that this is another hidden object game that’s sure to please the fans of this type of game. It has all the elements that make a hidden object game fun, and it’s presented with what I consider to be great artwork (as opposed to purely digital)… I’d call it an “illustration” approach. Since I only played for the free hour, I really didn’t see anything remarkable, aside from a few minor grammatical errors in the narration. The story line is interesting though, and I look forward to finding out how the story ends. I will keep this one in my game manager for a rainy day, instead of deleting it. ![]()
