New casual pc game: Turtix 2: Rescue Adventures

Turtix 2: Rescue Adventures is today’s new download game. This is a platformer game, which means that the screen scrolls to the right in the classic arcade style, while you travel up and down different levels (aka platforms) to obtain your goals. In this particular game, you are playing a cute little turtle that has to save all the baby turtles from the bad guys!

I’ve downloaded the game, and I was happy to find that it’s not like a lot of the other “platformer” casual pc games I’ve tried. See, I don’t like having to use my keyboard at all when I’m playing a game! This is the first platformer game I can remember playing that allows you to move around using your mouse. You can even jump by left clicking. While this does afford you some mobility without using the keyboard arrow keys, you do still need the keyboard to take actions (control key), and “view” the playing board around you (space key with arrows).

Despite my distaste for using the keyboard, I did play this one for the free hour. It reminded me a lot of my Sega Genisis days (yes, I’m old! LOL)… and playing Sonic the Hedgehog. You have to protect the baby turtles from dangerous monsters by jumping on them (eliminating them), or crushing them with boxes that you push or pull around the board. The boxes are also used to cover dangerous “pits of death”, allowing the baby turtles (and yourself) to walk over them.

It’s important to remember that the boxes you move around are also used to allow you access to otherwise restricted areas… by jumping on them, it will give you the height you need to jump to levels you couldn’t otherwise reach, making the order in which you do things very important at some points. If, for example, you use a box to cover a death pit too early, you may not be able to use that box to reach a portion of the screen that you need to get to… I learned this the hard way!

One other beginner’s tip that I can offer is this… the baby turtles need to find their way to the exit door in order for you to get credit for saving them. Make sure you don’t exit yourself until all your rescued baby turtles have reached that door, or you won’t get credit for them! Overall, I can see where platformer fans would become quickly addicted to this game, and find themselves needing to save ALL the baby turtles. Turtix 2: Rescue Adventures is sure to please casual pc game fans of all ages!

For those of you that find Turtix absolutely adorable, as I do… you may want to check out the original game featuring this cute lil guy. Turtix is the original side scrolling adventure that captivated so many with it’s charm and ease of play, that it wasn’t long before the developers had to create Turtix 2: Rescue Adventures! Enjoy them, and if you play them, comment here to let me know what you think, or join a community of casual pc gamers for more sharing of tips and tricks over at PCgamesJunkie.com!
